Trofense Metalogalva buys public lighting leader in the United Kingdom and Polish Contec Kromiss – Jornal de Negócios

The VigentGroup company, which has a turnover of 441 million euros and has 16 industrial units in nine countries, acquired the British company Fabrikat and a specialist in Poland in energy transmission structures, which have a total turnover of 42 million euros and employ 216 people.

The multinational company Metalogalva from Trofa continues its acquisition spree.

Six months after acquiring Electrofer, a metalworking company from Marinha Grande that employs more than 250 people, it has now made a double acquisition abroad.

It bought Fabrikat (Nottingham) Limited, a leader in the British market for public lighting, and the Polish company Contec Kromiss, which specializes in energy transmission structures.

“Metalogalva, a company of the VigentGroup with a presence in 12 countries and consolidated revenues of 441 million euros in 2023, has acquired Fabrikat (Nottingham) Limited, a company based in the United Kingdom,” and, “in parallel, through Tecpoles, a [Polish] company that has been part of the Metalogalva group since 2021, it has completed the acquisition of Contec Kromiss,” the Portuguese company reveals in a statement.

According to Metalogalva, Fabrikat employs 92 people and closed 2023 with revenues of 25 million euros, while Contec Kromiss, which focuses on the production of tubular poles for low, medium, and high-voltage lines, has 124 workers and generated 17 million euros in revenue last year.

Operating in the fields of engineering, production, and assembly of metal structures, with a special focus on lighting columns and guardrails, Fabrikat is also equipped to perform non-destructive and electrical testing to assess structural resilience and reliability, the Portuguese group highlights.

The acquisition of Contec Kromiss aims to strengthen the Trofa-based group’s position in the Polish and Central European markets, where Metalogalva has been growing significantly in recent years, adding to its Polish portfolio an industrial unit capable of manufacturing tall tubular towers for energy transmission, telecommunications, and technical lighting.
